How your data flows

1. Everything you type stays in your browser while you work. The calculator runs locally — the dates and rent figures are not sent anywhere while you are filling in the form.
2. Your draft is kept in sessionStorage, which your browser clears when you close the tab. You can also clear it at any time with the “Clear all data” button.
3. When you press Preview, the details are sent once over HTTPS to render the PDF. They are held in memory for the seconds that takes and are then discarded. They are not written to disk, not written to logs, and not written to our database.
4. The finished PDF is streamed straight back to you. We keep no copy.

What we do store

One anonymous row per generated document, so we can see which counties and dwelling types the tool is used for:

County

Derived from the first three characters of the Eircode, e.g. D08 → Dublin.

Dwelling type

Apartment, house, duplex, studio, room in a shared house or other.

Size of the increase

The euro difference between the old and new monthly rent.

Which limit applied

Whether the CPI change, the annualised 2% cap or the deflation floor bound the increase.

Timestamp

When the document was generated.

This row cannot be linked back to you, to a tenant, or to a specific address.

What we never store

Nothing you type into the calculator or the notice generator is kept. Specifically, we never store:

• Landlord or agent names, addresses, PSRA licence numbers or phone numbers
• Tenant names
• The property address or the full Eircode
• The comparable properties you enter
• The generated PDF — no copy is kept on our servers
• IP addresses or browser fingerprints linked to a generated document

This list is about the document tools. If you choose to write to us through the contact form, that message and the contact details you give with it are a separate matter and are covered below.

If you contact us

The contact form asks for your name, an email address and your message. A phone number is optional and you do not have to give one.

What you submit is sent by email to the small team that develops and operates this website, and it is read by that team alone. We use it for one purpose: to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not use it for marketing, we do not profile you, and we never sell or share it with anyone else.

• Legal basis. Our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our own service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You chose to write to us, and answering you is what you would reasonably expect.
• Where it goes. The message is delivered through our email provider and lands in our mailbox. Both are in the EU, and the list of providers is in the table below. It is not stored on this website — no copy is written to our database.
• How long we keep it. In our mailbox for as long as the conversation is live, and in any case no longer than 12 months after the last reply, after which it is deleted.
• Your rights. Write to us and we will tell you what we still hold from your enquiry, correct it, or delete it. Since a message is identified by the email address that sent it, that is all we need to find it.

Please do not send tenant details through this form. We do not need names, addresses or Eircodes to answer a question, and email is not a secure channel for them. If your enquiry concerns a particular document, quote its reference instead.

Third parties

We fetch the Consumer Price Index from the Central Statistics Office on a schedule, not in response to anything you do — the CSO never sees your requests. We use no advertising networks and no third-party analytics that profile you.

Our servers and database are hosted in the EU.

Every one of them is established in the EU. No personal data is transferred outside the EEA. There is no payment processor in this list because nothing on this site is for sale. The email provider is here only because the contact form sends your message to us — nothing about the documents you generate is ever emailed anywhere.

Your rights

Using the calculator and the notice generator leaves us holding nothing about you at all — there is no record to access, rectify or erase, because none is created.

If you have written to us through the contact form, we do hold that message and the contact details you gave with it. You can ask us for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will do so. Write to us from the address you used and we will find it.

You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland’s supervisory authority.
